02/25/2006  Sally Beauty Guides Customers to ABCH Members

The American Board of Certified Haircolorists is partnering with Sally Beauty Supply and Sally Beauty, the magazine, to guide consumers to ABCH members.

Sally Beauty is a consumer publication sold in more than 2,000 Sally Beauty Supply stores nation wide. The magazine is filled with informative articles on beauty and tips on how to look your very best using products available in Sally stores, of course. There are also articles on how men can best maintain their skin and hair.

In addition to guiding readers to board certified haircolorists, Sally Beauty will ask ABCH haircolorists to assist with articles intended to help the consumer understand more about his or her salon haircolor options and maintenance requirements, new haircolor trends and innovations, as well as solutions to a variety of haircolor problems.

“We want to be able to guide our readers to salon professionals with the highest level of professionalism,” said Katharine Bernard, editor of Sally Beauty. “And we are delighted to have this great resource for haircolor advice and information.”

“Sally Beauty Company endorses the professional haircolorist and would like to give the consumer the best choice possible,” adds Ernie McCraw, Director of Merchandising for Sally Beauty, and a hairdresser himself. “The consumer understands that the words ‘Board Certified’ denote a higher level of professional standards.”

“Because Sally Beauty’s core business is selling to professionals, this is a relationship that will be beneficial to everyone involved.  It acknowledges that hair coloring is a complex discipline that requires additional study and experience before one can be considered professional,” stated Andre Nizetich, President of ABCH.  “We are looking forward to long fruitful relationship with Sally Beauty.”

Anyone with a cosmetology or barbering license can become an American Board Certified Haircolorist by studying for and taking the examination. Whether you pass or fail the examination you become more qualified as a  haircolorist.  Look through the American Board of Certified Haircolorist web site (www.haircolorist.com) for more information on becoming Board Certified.
