ABCH Speed Foiling Competition

Click here for a PDF with the Speed Foil Competion rules. Otherwise, below, you will find the judging criteria for the competition:

Neatness

Deals with the neatness of the competitor and how well they manage to keep the bleach only where it belongs. While evaluating the competitor, look for bleach on the floor and/or on the mannequin. Is the brush handle covered with bleach? did the competitor wear gloves and an apron to avoid getting bleach on their self? How neat are they?

Consistency

Are all of the strands to be bleached the same size? If they are not it warrants a deduction. The hair between packets can be any size the competitor chooses, but each must be the same size. If they are not, a deduction is applied.

Application

How well is the bleach is applied to the strands? Are there dry spots on the hair? Is there just the right amount of product on the hair? Is there an excessive amount of product applied to the hair? Application only deals with the bleach within the packet. Bleach outside the packet is neatness or bleeding.

Follows Directions

Follows directions is a catch all for someone who does not follow procedure. Competitors may start anywhere on the head. They must follow procedure when it comes to the size of the strands to be bleached. If all of the strands are the same size — but the wrong size — they get a good score for consistency, but a bad score for following directions. The overall width of the strand must not be less than indicated. Any attempt to sneak another packet in after time elapses or to start early will cause a deduction here. An attempt to clean up will mean a deduction. If there is no hair between packets, a one packet deduction will be made to the speed score. Packets that are not weaved will not count.

Bleeding / Distance

Any bleach outside the packet toward the scalp will be considered bleeding. The bleach must be applied close to the scalp with out being outside the packet. If they are too far away from the edge of the foil to avoid bleeding, a deduction will also be given.
